Biography
Throughout her life, Gayle Wilson has always been passionate about education. An outstanding student, Gayle Edlund graduated from Stanford University, earning a Phi Beta Kappa key and a degree in biology. Although Gayle first met Pete Wilson at a political event in the 1960's, it was not until she volunteered in his San Diego office, during his 1982 run for Congressional Office, that the couple began dating. They were married on May 29, 1983. Described as a "career volunteer," it was Gayle that first established an office for the First Lady in the State Capitol Building. From this new base of operations, she worked on early health and math/science education issues. Her passion for math and science education lead to Governor Wilson's success in passing, and funding, The State Summer School for Math and Science (COSMOS) program. Gayle and Pete Wilson currently live in Los Angeles where Gayle continues to be active on a variety of boards that support education and the sciences.
